How can I get involved?

WHAT IS COVENANT OF ONE

How do I find out more?

GIVE ADDITIONAL TIME

Time is the spiritual component of the Covenant of 1. It is the time we invest specifically in our relationship with God, for example, thorough prayer, spiritual reading and other activities which are aimed at our own spiritual formation.

You are invited to make a commitment to one ‘additional’ per week, over and above your current commitment, to your spiritual development and your relationship with Christ.  There is no specific time attached to each ‘additional’ but we would recommend you work towards an hour of each of Time, Talent and Together.  For example, you could start with 5 minutes of extra prayer a day and build that up to 10 minutes per day over time.

GIVE MORE OF YOUR TALENT

Talent is the service component of the Covenant of 1 and is the contribution we make to the parish and greater community in alignment with our own giftedness.  1 ‘additional’ talent given in accordance with your gifts to support the work, in the parish, and by the parish in the external community.

GIVE A LITTLE MORE OF YOUR TREASURE

Treasure is the financial contribution we make to the parish to support the work of the parish and in the community.  We are often asked, “who should give?” It’s not that anyone should give but that everyone should want to give.  If we truly love God, His people, His church and if we truly believe in His mission, then we should all want to give something, however large or small.  If we don’t, who will?  Our parishioners are, after all, our only source of income.  And if we aren’t giving then we are just taking and that doesn’t seem right either.  So, whether we are children, students, working or retired, we should all want to give something.

You are therefore invited to make a commitment to the donation of the equivalent of 1 ‘additional’ of your income per week to support the work of the parish community.  As a guideline, we recommend a minimum of 1 hour of your earnings per week – or the equivalent of 4 hours Rand value of your monthly earnings. If you don’t earn yet, perhaps a consistent percentage of your pocket money (think in terms of the value of one movie, one beer, one pizza).

SPEND MORE TIME TOGETHER

Together is the fellowship and relational component of the Covenant of 1.  It is our participation in the community life of the parish and the individual relationships we have with other parishioners.  It is also how we evangelise and fulfil our call to mission and how we attract and welcome outsiders.

You are invited to make a commitment to one ‘additional’, given to life in the community, individual relationships in the parish and to care.
